Our bead club project this month was Lady Barbara's netted rope. We could do a bracelet or a necklace, I chose a necklace. I wanted something that was quite short. While I was finishing it I decided to put a long extender chain on it so I could wear it a bit longer, say over a poloneck top. I didn't have enough of the beads I wanted to use for the core so I used them for the middle and found some other beads that complimented them, to go up the sides. I started with a 5 bead netting but it hid the beads underneath too much so I undid it and increased it to a 7 bead netting and it looked much better. When I got the middle beads, they are a bit bigger than the beads up the sides so I increased the netting. It was suggested that I swap the contrast and main seed beads. It looks great and has been much admired by my friends. Thanks for the suggestion!
